Normally christening refer to baptism for infants and young children.
The term baptism and christening are often used interchangeably when speaking of religious ceremony but one rarely hears any reference to a "baptismal party'. This is almost always called a "christening".

The most common christening party is somewhere in between. They are usually gatherings of friends and family members in the home of the parents immediately after a baptism. If the parents aren't home owners, a family member or friend will host the event to allow for the number of guests. Refreshments are served if the baptism finished after acceptable meal times. If the party is held during mealtimes, it's expected that a meal of some sort is served.
Christening party color themes, normally for baby girl is pink and for baby boy is blue, but also open for other color that parents think suits for their baby personality, such as light yellow or teal color.
